Sardinia: tourist areas and accommodations

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean and is formed by a series of mountainous massifs, hills and narrow highlands. The coasts are jagged and rocky, interspersed with marvelous beaches of very fine sand and countless inlets. The seaside landscapes, especially on the Costa Smeralda, are among the most beautiful in the world. Near the town of Nuoro, in the Barbagia hills, they skewer suckling pig called porceddu or lamb or kid on poles of aromatic wood to be turned occasionally they roast for hours before an open wood fire. The famous wines of the Cagliari area are: the white wine "Nuragus", Nasco" which nowadays is being rediscovered again by the best Italian gourmets,the "Malvasia D.O.C.,the "Girò" and the red wine "Monica".
