Vicenza has a great artistic patrimony which is world-renowned thanks to the works of the architect Andrea Palladio. Besides the Basilica and the Olympic Theatre the great architect designed noble palaces in the city and splendid villas in the countryside. In the Olympic Theatre a prestigious concertistic season is organized from May to September. Moreover, Vicenza is famous for the goldsmith's art. In fact, three international fairs of goldsmithery are kept in January, June and September. Near Vicenza there is the hilly town called Montecchio which prides itself on being the place of origin of the Montecchi the family of the famous Shakesperian hero, Romeo. In fact, the town displays two neighbouring castles which are known as the Castles of Romeo and Juliet.
