Verona is a romantic city, cradled by the Adige river, with an enormous artistic patrimony. The city hosts at the Arena, the imposing Roman amphitheatre, the most famous and evocative open-air opera festival in the world - from June to September. The summer theatre finds a natural setting at the Roman Theatre that embraces with equal potentiality the qualitative aspect of the performances and the historical and touristic interest of this marvellous stage. Here the repertory theatre is traditionally linked to Shakespeare and Goldoni. As a matter of fact, the name of Verona is internationally linked to Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet and the places where, according to the tradition, the two lovers lived and died are visited by thousands of tourists every year. In gastronomy, the Pandoro is the most famous Christmas cake in Italy but there are also excellent d.o.c. wines. The Fieracavalli (horses fair-Nov) and that of the wines Vinitaly (Apr) are just a couple of the many international manifestations organized by the Verona Fair Society |
