The Valdera, named after its river, spreads from the barren walled chasms of Volterra as far as Pontedera. This evocative landscape reveals a wealth of natural beauty, history, art and architecture. Predominately agricultural, the olive groves and vineyards sprawl over the rolling hills and reign over the cultivated wheat fields and orchards. The most famous craftwork is that of the alabaster. |
