The Tremiti islands are the only ones to have survived the geological earthquake by which the numerous other islands of Apulia were welded together. The jagged coasts of the three main islands are full of coves and grottoes, and their beaches descend towards the always limpid sea, either on gentle slopes, or stony declines. The island of Capraia has a precipitous rocky coast and a level summit. It is full of grottoes, shining with the brilliant reflections of the sea. |
