Trapani is situated on the NW coast of Sicily, opposite the Egadi Islands, on the plain sloping gently down from Monte Erice. You should start your visit with the Santuario dell'Annunziata and the Museo Pepoli which contains archaeological remains, a colleption of sculptures and paintings, and a section devoted to the applied arts. At 15 km from Trapani you find the picturesque town of Erice with its imposing Norman castle and boundary walls. A visit to Erice is highly recommended, because of the town's artistic interest, the beauty of its landscape and the extraordinary panorama that can be enjoyed in every side. |
