The countryside is characterised by the presence of two lacustrine basins, separated by the Tenna hill, Lake Caldonazzo and Lake Levico out of which flows the Brenta river to begin its journey to the Adriatic sea. The presence of the two lakes has been the main reason for the development of tourism, an economic activity which began in Levico in the last century when the location became a renowned spa resort. Beside spa treatment, Upper Valsugana is also known for its combined offer of culture, nature, sport and health. Valle dei Mocheni is a unique valley in Trentino because it is a linguistic island, where people speak a language of German origin and the inhabitants maintain very old popular traditions and because the landscape is a real photograph of the past. |
