The wide area in the south of Padua preserves its agricultural peculiarity. The ancient town of Montagnana keeps its medieval walls and fortifications almost intact. Other interesting monuments are the Cathedral, which keeps many works of art, several palaces and villas, the most out-standing of which is Villa Pisani by A. Palladio. Every year on the first Sunday of September the inhabitants of Montagnana celebrate the Palio, a horse-race preceeded by medieval games and pageantry. |
