Olbia is the fulcrum of Gallura and north-east Sardinia as well as of sea and air connections in and from the island. It faces the Gulf and is one of the most frequented localities in Sardinia by Italian and foreign tourists. The surroundings offer a large number of excursions, by car and on foot, to sites of archaeological and naturalistic interest as well as to the stupendous coastal, panoramic areas, white beaches, very good for bathing. The islands of Tavolara and Molara are reachable by boats. Tavolara is a true limestone mountain planted in the Tyrrhenian sea. Here there are ample beaches, a minuscule port, some villas and restaurants. Molara is made up of granite and offers easy access to various inlets, which are either sandy or pebbly. |
