The vast territory of the Ogliastra is a recent discovery. Its beautiful coasts and mountainous interior were relatively unknown because of the difficulty of access: in fact to the north and west the area is closed to the Barbagia mountains. But now many people know and appreciate the contryside of Ogliastra: the coastal plains with their beautiful beaches; the so called tacchi, imposing towers of light coloured rock; the red rocks and the well-organised tourism at Arbatax; and the spectacular coast of Baunei. Here you can taste the delicious mullet roes also called bottarga. |
