The area including Cagliari and the small towns around the city were organised into what the town planners call the Cagliari Englobement, where all the centres are almost completely joined, in an uninterrupted ring of residential and productive developments. Cagliari is the regional, cultural and political capital of the island. An amazing part of Cagliari is the beach of Poetto. It is easily reached in a few minutes from the centre of the city, and is in front of the lagoon Stagno di Molentargius. It is one of the most important lagoon environments in Europe because of its wildlife. |
