The province of Enna is situated in the heart of Sicily and is dominated by the Nebrodi Mountains and the Erei Mountains. The zone is rich in woods (oaks and beeches), picturesque villages, corn fields, valleys, and lakes: an ideal area for excursions. There are also important archaeological sites. For example, not far from the Roman Villa of Casale there is an archaeological site that is justifiably one of the most important in Sicily: that of Morgantina. Also in the village of Centuripe archaeological excavations have brought to light a considerable amount of important Roman remains which are displayed in the new archaeological museum. |
