The Asinara Gulf has been a natural park since 1997. Very well-known for their fine sand are the Saline and Pelosa beaches from which two nearby Spanish towers overlook the coast. This coast offers a series of services such as hotels, restaurants, night clubs, and sports facilities. In the southern part of the Stintino peninsula, there is Stagno di Casaraccio with its Mediterranean maquis and dwarf palms; it is habitat for an interesting and varied water bird life including flamingos. Going eastwards, you will find the small town of Castelsardo built on the top of a steep headland rising sheer from the sea of Asinara. One should buy the characteristic artisan products, above all the lovely baskets. Nearby you can admire the extraordinary Elephant rock and the splendid Paradise Coast. |
