Sassari is built around an old centre which has narrow streets and characteristic alleys. Here, handicrafts are certainly one of the most characteristic elements. They express an extreme sincerity of artistic tendency. Reed baskets, ceramics of great aesthetic value, carpets, and tapestries can be bought in typical shops. On August 14th don' t miss the great festival of the candelieri at Sassari. Along the western coast it is worth visiting Argentiera, a mining centre abandoned in the 60s, which is now being transformed into a tourist centre. |
