Rome,Caput Mundi, was founded, according to the legend, in 753 b.C., when Romolo laid the foundation stone. Capital of the Italian Republic, it includes the episcopal center of the Pope and the Italian parliament. Walking along the streets and the gorgeous public squares of Rome, it is a bit like snatching the ancient history that sneeps out from every stone. Vatican City, the Colosseo, the museums, the temples, the basilicas, the fori (enchanting archaeological remains) are only part of the enormous artistic patrimony that Rome still preserves. Every alley, every palace, and also the sides of the Tiber river, that flows through Rome, have a story to tell. |
