Potenza is the highest (819m) regional capital of Italy. Today, the city carries out a very important role in the Italian cultural panorama with the famous Basilicata Literary Prize, awarded at the beginning of December. For folklore, remember the Maggio Potentino (May Festival). In the Provincial Archaeological Museum, materials and finds from the entire region indicate a clear tie between the local population and the Greek colonies. A visit is highly recommended. Moreover, the choice of hand-made pasta is almost unlimited and comes in various shapes locally known as: fusilli, lasagne, capunti, cavetelli and orecchiette. |
