Since 1993 this zone is a national park. If this itinerary were travelled only with the eyes of a naturalist, you would see a succession of mountains, slopes, harsh beauty and gentle landscapes. This face of the Pollino (2.267 m) manifests all the features of the Mediteranean ecosystem: silver pines and Corsican pines, maple and beech trees. The Pollini has however more than one soul, sometimes appearing wild, unexplored, and legendary. Added to its natural beauties are the attractions of the various small towns, which conserve stories of art and ancient traditions. Some villages, clustered on the sides of the hills, still mantain Albanian ethnic-linguistic influences. |
