Modena is situated in the Po valley and has a wonderful romanesque Duomo built in white limestone and famous collections of art dating back to the period in which Modena was the capital of the Duchy of the House of Este. Unesco has included Piazza Grande, the Duomo and the bell tower on its list of world heritage monuments. The gastronomic specialties are the Balsamic Vinegar, ham, salami, and hand-made pasta. In the surroundings, Sassuolo is famous for its unique pottery while at Maranello, next to the factory, Ferrari has set up their own Automobile Museum, the Galleria Ferrari. |
