Franz Kafka, Rilke and many other writers visited, in the past, the beautiful city of Merano. It is an elegant and lively city rich in cultural life and traditions. Then, starting from the end of November, the Christmas markets begin in Merano, a central Europe tradition which in the last few years has had success in Alto Adige. The markets offer the best in craft products and local gastronomic specialities such as the speck (smoked ham), cheeses (Vezzena, smoked ricotta, and Tosela), DOC wines, grappa flavoured with herbs or wild fruits. |
