Lomellina is situated to the east, over the right bank of the Ticino river, already with a Piedmont flavour. It is the kingdom of rice fields, making it one of the rice producing poles of Italy (but also an area laboriously set up with other poles like the shoe and fashion industries at Vigevano). Lomellina is flat, crossed by canals, full of typical farmhouses, rustic fortresses, buildings, and imposing castles (that of Sartirana, for example). |
