The metropolitan area succumbs to cultivated fields and farmhouses spreading as far as the eye can see. Among the colours of the countryside, there are distinct red presences handed down by history under an architectural profile: the thousands steeples which have made the Lodigiano famous, in particular several old abbeys, basilicas, castles, and fortresses. The typical specialties of the Lodigiana cuisine can be tasted in restaurants and ancient taverns: Pannerone cheese, Mascarpone cheese, and many rice dishes among which, worth mentioning is risotto with milk, whisked with cream, or mixed with seasonal vegetables (pumpkin, cabbage, mushrooms, beans). Many trade fairs and events are staged throughout the year, from the Palio dei Rioni of Lodi to the arts and crafts. |
