The lively Livorno, which has always been a destination for artists and poets, boasts elegant palaces, neoclassic buildings, tree-lined avenues, Liberty villas and many bathing resorts that have inaugurated in Italy the bathing tourism. There are many places of interest by the sea , such as: the city aquarium, the Natural History Museum, the Caprilli racecourse, a hundred-year-old setting for important horse racing seasons. The reefs of Quercianella and Castiglioncello, in the south of Livorno, are followed by the long sandy seashores of the Etruschi coast. Cecina, Forte Bibbona, Marina di Castagneto and Donoratico have dark sandy beaches, while San Vincenzo boasts a white sandy beach. The hinterland is hilly and covered by the Maremma pisana for a great part. |
