Gubbio is a splendid preserved medieval city with a wealth of artistic monuments, churches and palaces. The theatre where classical performances are held every year is Roman, whereas those who love excursions can pick and choose over the plateau and the neighbouring hills. Gubbio also distinguishes itself for its great cultural traditions and for the craftsmanship (in particular, ceramics and wrought iron) of extremely ancient origin and still very much alive today. The most famous events are the Palio della Balestra (May) and the spectacular Corsa dei Ceri (15th May). |
