Famous for the fact that Pythagorus settled here and as the birthplace of athletes such as Milo and doctors as Alcmaelone, Crotone in 510 BC became the main city of Magna Grecia. The coast here offers both sandy beaches and steep reefs lapped by a crystalline sea. The typical dish is cavatelli - a sort of orecchiette pasta - home made and served with a souce and mature grated ricotta cheese. |
