Silent green expanses worthy of a great artist, the blues of sky and rivers, the grey-red brush-strokes of churches and towers: this is the scenography of the Valcamonica. The Adamello Park boasts important winter resorts like Ponte di Legno-Tonale-Borno and Montecampione. UNESCO inserted the Camuni petroglyphs in the list of the world cultural heritage. The Parco Nazionale delle Incisioni Rupestri was set up in 1955 and displays veritable books in stone, dating back to the Camuni tribe which settled in this area in the post-palaeolithic era. The Springs of Boario Terme were frequented also by Alessandro Manzoni during the mid-nineteenth century. It is a well-equipped centre for spa cures, in particular for phelotherapy, respiratory and motor gymnastics. In this area, it is well worth trying the typical formaggella cheese. |
