The area's volcanic origins left a lacustral basin in the dead craters and, as a result, Lake Bolsena is Europe's largest volcanic lake. Lake Bolsena is a natural oasis of rare beauty. Here archaeologists have found many important remains which are put on public view at the Bolsena Museum of Archaelogy. In the middle of the lake there are two small isles that you can rich thanks to an excellent summer ferry-boat service. |
