Trentino Alto Adige is a mainly mountainous, rich in rivers, torrents and numerous lakes, clusters and chains of mountains of singular beauty, divided in two by the valley of the Adige river. Trentino Alto Adige consists of two distinct areas, the Italian-speaking Trentino and the German-speaking South Tyrol.
