Basilicata is a small region, mostly mountainous with two short coastlines on the Ionian and the Thyrrenian Sea.
There are two main cities in Basilicata: Potenza and Matera. The region is rich in archaeologic relics.
Matera is world famous for the “Sassi”, the typical houses and churches dug into the “tufa” crag and it was
the location of the movie "The passion of our Lord Jesus Christ" of Mel Gibson.
